RECEIVED: From the G.C.B.R.O. Web Site Submission Form

DATE:      1978-79

TIME:       Around 3:00 P.M.

LOCATION:    Skipperville, Alabama,  Dale County

TERRAIN:      Swampy

OBSERVED:   There was four of us quail hunting. We all saw what appeared to be a bigfoot. As we were walking around a field following the bird dog, one of the guys asked what that was approximately 500 yards down a wide open powerline. I glanced and answered it is a tree that was burned.  He answered and said I have never seen a tree move. All four of us stopped and looked at it and it was across the large powerline and into the woods. We decided it was a bigfoot and was gonna look at his track, so we could show other people. (So they would not think we were crazy, like they all did when we would tell of our siting.) We walked to where the bigfoot was seen and our bird dog stuck his nose in the air and would not go any closer to the sighting. The dog smelled the bigfoot and we could not call him to where we saw him.  Anyway, when we got to the sight bigfoot was standing, it was a marshy place. We could see where it stepped in the water but unable to make out a footprint.

All four of us know what we seen.  A bear could not run like that on his back legs. We discussed every possibility between ourselves of what it could have been and it kept coming back to bigfoot.  When we mention it to people, they want to know what we had been drinking.  They get a good laugh out of it, but I know what we saw.

Activities of Witness:   We were hunting.

Description of Creature:   Approximately 8 foot tall, very black hairy creature that ran off on two feet, It rocked from foot to foot (swaying)

Other Notes:     Witness stated that a new power line had gone through this swampy area and the right of way was totally cleared and a clean view was seen of the creature.  It appeared to be a tree at first, because it was so broad and black looking, at least 3-4 foot broad.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA?:   Yes, witness learned of another hunter seeing a very smelly black bigfoot while hunting near County Road 69 just a few miles from where he and his friends had seen this one in 1978 or 79.  This other deer hunter smelled the creature several times while out deer hunting on a  winter day in 1999.  Even though he smelled the creature several times, he only saw it once.  The person reporting this sighting said that he would report any one else he heard of that reported seeing a bigfoot near Skipperville.
