RECEIVED: From the G.C.B.R.O. Web Site Submission Form

DATE:        11/??/00

TIME:         Around 3:00 pm

LOCATION:   Sylvan Springs/Mulga,Alabama  (Jefferson County)

TERRAIN:     Wooded

OBSERVED:    One afternoon in November my cousin, me and our friend went off into the woods near my cousin's house. We had went from the bottom of this area up to a hill. As we was climbing up hill we came opon what looked to be a bed of a very large animal. A large trail had been made by this animal to this bed that went farther up the hill. The trail was wide and was looked to be used more than once. This animal had stacked small trees down over this huge hole were it had laid. You couldn't see it until my cousin fell in it. This hole was deep. This "bed" was circular and looked like something had pushed the surrounding shrubbery down. This area is close to Mulga, Maytown and Pleasant Grove.

Activities of Witness:  Hiking thru the bottoms and hills of that area

Description of Creature:

Other Notes:    Around this time last year my cousin and his mom and dad had heard what they called a "loud god awfull" noise in the woods in front of my cousin's house. My cousin said the animal would push small trees over when walking and when walking sounded like a heavy animal. We had went out in the woods weeks later and seen trees ,small trees, that was split at around 9-10 ft up. This animal has been heard by my family more than once and on different evenings. We think it could be a bear. But the only bears that are native around that area is black bears. And they aren't that big of a bear and I don't think it would make a lot of ruckus as it walked thru the woods.
