Report Posted To GCBRO Web Site On  April 1, 2012

DATE:    03/01/00

TIME:     6:00 pm

LOCATION:   Shelby County, Alabama

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:    I was walking back from a long hike, and the sun was going down, and was on a trail right along the bank of the Cahaba River - this whole area is no longer very private or wooded anymore with commercial and residential development having taken over in the last 15 years - and my dog stopped in his tracks and started whimpering, and I looked up the path and I saw what looked like a large man cross the path, and then I heard a "splash" where whatever it was would have gone into the shallow river. I walked closer and there was nothing to be found, but I saw right along the muddy river bank a HUGE footprint. With toes. I have no idea what it was, but people think I am crazy when I tell that story, and I just found this web site to post it!

Additional Info:    My dog could still smell something distinct where we saw the footprint because he was going crazy sniffing around the trees and path where the creature had crossed.

Activities of Witness:    Hiking along the Cahaba River.

Description of Creature:  Tall, dark grey/black hair, and moved very quickly

Other Notes:    There had been talk that there was a coyote problem or even a wild cat problem in the area, because people in the area had complained about their cats or other small pets missing.

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:    N/A

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments N/A
