TIME:     2:00 PM

LOCATION:   Apache County, Arizona

TERRAIN:    National Forest

OBSERVED:    I would, first, like to start by saying that my sighting date may not be totally accurate due to the the time that has elapsed, but I assure that my account of events is accurate to the best of my recollection;... Having finished a picnic lunch with my fiancé at a location named "Sheep's Crossing" on a beautiful, clear, cloudless day, we began our ride into, nearby, Greer (central-eastern Ariz.) to visit a college room mate of my fiancé's whom was visiting her parents cabin and invited us up (from Tucson). Shortly after leaving Sheep's Crossing in our (top down) MGB (headed toward the town of Greer) I remember as if it were yesterday, driving down an unobscured section of straight, paved, road (with pine forest on either side ) when a figure began to cross the road beginning from approximately 100 yds. in front of us, from right to left. It was, slightly, slouched with its back to us and appeared to be no taller than five foot six inches, completely covered in reddish brown fur and using its knuckles to traverse the road (as an ape might walk). As if on cue and without, first, saying a word, my fiancé and I turned to each other (with both of our jaws agape) and blurted out at the same time, words to the effect..."are you seeing what I'm seeing??!!" I, immediately, pulled over to the side of the road where the creature entered the forest in attempt to further observe but was unable to find any movement. I then got out of the car and tried to find some kind of footprint on the side of the road, as evidence to help confirm and identify this strange sighting, but to no avail. Reluctantly, I returned to the car and continued a very short distance down the road before pulling in to a picnic area on the left hand side of the road. I drove a little ways through the picnic area (looking for a further sighting), then returned to the first family of picnickers that we encountered. I remember feeling a little foolish, in my excitement ,after stopping the car and asking the man of the family (whom was, casually, barbecuing over an outdoor grill) if he had, recently, witnessed seeing anything out of the ordinary.  He said that he hadn't and I told him of what my fiancé and I had just witnessed seeing. I remember the gentleman giving me a skeptical smirk but I still, felt compelled to warn him as there were children (of his, I assumed) playing in the immediate area. After slowly, driving around the immediate area and looking (to no avail) for further evidence...we continued into town to meet our friend and hosts. The story of our encounter met much of the same skepticism that an alien encounter might. Hence...I never continued to follow up and report our encounter...until now. In synopsis; what I saw was the full back-side of a creature (it didn't turn its face toward us) that walked erect (slightly hunched over and with limited assistance of knuckles from its long arms) that was no  taller than 5'6" and covered in reddish-brown fur. The sighting occurred, starting from approximately 100 yds. away and continued to ,approximately, 50 yds. proximity, while lasting, only, about 15 seconds...yet, has been indelled into my memory for a lifetime! I'm happy to have, (after all these years) found  a forum (thanks to the internet) to, finally, relate my experience.

Activities of Witness:   As described in above detail; my fiancé and I were enjoying a casual outing and on our way to meet friends north of our, then, Tucson address.

Description of Creature:  Again, (as described above); it was approx. five to five and a half feet tall, covered in reddish-brown fur, walked erect, while hunched over in a 'loping', or, side-stepping manner and with occasional assistance from the knuckles of its long arms.
