LOCATION:   Ontario, Canada

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:

We were trekking through the forest at night. Myself, two other buddies and a dog. We were looking for a shelter we had made before and wanted to make it there by sun up. When we arrived to the location, about a kilometre up river from the main lake, we all saw extremely large tracks in the deep snow. I personally walked in the tracks and found that they were too large to be a humans tracks, however they were in two legged right left right left pattern. The space between the tracks were about a yard. They were not bear tracks or any four legged mammal tracks. They lead across the area where our shelter was and off into the darkness.

Activities of Witness:

We were snowshoeing in the forest to find a shelter we had made that fall. It was fairly far from the lake and surrounding cottages. Far enough that no one would venture out this far, especially in the winter.

Description of Creature:  The tracks went deep into the snow which meant whatever made them was heavy and tall. It was as if a giant of about 8 to 9 feet was walking in this area.

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:

Since then I was hiking by myself in the early summer of this year when I saw what I thought was a black bear. At first I thought it was someone running through the woods, but then I saw that whatever it was, was black and hairy. For some reason the vision that has stayed with me reminded my of a Gorilla, running on all fours. Until now I just always thought it had to be a bear but because I saw it so fast, and immediately retreated to my kayak, I cannot be certain what it really was.
