Report Posted To GCBRO Web Site OnSeptember 1, 2005

DATE:    January 12, 2001

TIME:     After Noon

LOCATION:   Humboldt County, California

TERRAIN:    Wooded, lots of trees...not too far from the river

OBSERVED:    Went on trip with several friends to another friends wedding...on the way home saw something on the side of road...as we got closer, realized it was a dead deer and a large creature was bent over it...as we got closer it picked the deer up and ran into the woods...not real familiar with this area but I think it headed toward the river.

Activities of Witness:   On the way back to my friends Aunt's house to stay after the wedding. There were four of us including myself in the van. One of them was napping but woke up when we all started carrying on so everyone saw it. It only lasted for about 15-20 seconds. My friend that got married wasn't that impressed when he returned home and I told him about it. Said he hears about sightings on a regular basis.Thrilled the hell out of the rest of us though.

Description of Creature:  My first thought was Andre the Giant. It was at least 7-8 feet tall and it was very hairy , black or dark brown in color. It ran like a leopard. Quick as "Dammit". It ran like a man although it was slumped over just a bit.

Other Notes:    I'm from North Carolina and all we ever see around here are deer and the occasional black bear so this was a real treat for us city slickers.

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments Upon contact the witness had no additional information to add to this report.
