DATE:    October 15, 1991

TIME:     9-11 PM

LOCATION:   Escambia County, Florida

TERRAIN:    Swampy

OBSERVED:    My brother who was 17 then decided to go into "undisclosed" area located off of the Escambia river to look for Bigfoot.  As we have all been told our whole life that there was some like bigfoot or sasquatch living in the woods in that area.  My parents teased him telling him it was ridiculous etc... even though they had also always heard these stories growing up there as well.  People in the area refer to "it" as the "Escambia River Skunk Man" or "Alabama Booger Monster".
So my brother and his friend who was 22 left at about 3 pm that afternoon.  It was starting to turn a little cool so they packed accordingly.  They were in a 4 wheel drive truck extended cab, had with them a 4-wheeler numerous flash lights and a spot light, a gun and two way radio's.   He said that they had been out there driving the area for several hours and did not see anything.  They were getting ready head back to the main road but decided to make last stop in a heavily wooded area to see if they could hear or see anything. About that time something came crashing through the back window directly behind my brother who was the passenger in the vehicle.  Of course at this point I think both my brother and his friend were freaking out and drove as fast as they could to get out of there.  When they got home I remember my brother being so scared he couldn't even talk he was trembling uncontrollably.  My father went out to survey the damage and there was indeed what looked to be a large hand smash through the window.  There was no blood but what looked to be a very small bit of hair or my father described it "looked like ape hair black/red in color" on the glass around the area that shattered.  My brother recalled hearing a loud pitched screaming sound and said "whatever" it was, was running so fast and hard you could hear it breaking limbs and under brush etc... My brother slept in my parents room for days as he was mortified.  To this day his story had never changed and he still has occasional nightmares about this "thing".  He is always paying extra close attention i have noticed as if he is nervous when we have been on the river or in wooded areas in our small rural town.  Within the next year of this incident there were numerous reports of sightings as well as hearing the same things as what my brother described.  One incident that occurred I remember very specifically was 2 military guys had came out to a nearby lake with some girls to party and go parking and they were parked right off of the main road they were all playing around in the car they looked up and described seeing a "man covered with hair about 6-6.5 ft tall body size of a gorilla". The only other history I have of this area is that in the 70's there was a Zoo back in that area that was abandoned.  There were animals etc... left in their cages and some were just turned loose into the wild.  Some people say it's gorillas, apes etc... that are still living there but for other who have had first hand encounters say there is no way.  If you have anymore questions please contact me and i will do my best to put you in touch with the right people in the area that have either witnessed or encountered this magnificent species of whatever it is.
