REPORT RECEIVED: From the GCBRO Online Report Submission Form

DATE:  01/??/95

TIME:  Dusk around 5:30-6:00

LOCATION:     New Harmony, Florida, Walton County

TERRAIN:   Wooded

OBSERVED:    A sound was heard that was only finally explained recently when I watched a Bigfoot series on t.v., when a sound bite was played. I was driven to tears without reaction and recalled the time I heard that same noise before.
The situation is as follows: I was Deer hunting from a tree stand on which I had recently built the Thanksgiving before.  This I beleive was the fourth time I had used the stand. from this stand I had seen deer on every occasion. The final occasion i turned to see (sunset) a doe and a fawn feeding to my right, which were there for a bit but not visible because of an overhanging tree branch. I waited for thirty minutes or so to see if a Buck would follow, but two moved ever so close alone for a while. Well, they fed till after dusk up to about fifty feet from my stand. Which made them more visible since it was almost pitch dark with a slight light. I was ready to get down and decided to try to throw a few sticks toward them as not to give up my postion. That did not work so I moved around and even coughed but they did not even notice my presence or care. In a sudden instance a sound shreeked behind me. (100 foot or more)

I turned slowly around to my left to try and see behind the tree because it was grew loud and I thought it was coming toward me. As i turned around to look at the deer I noticed they were both looking straight in my direction. I was needless to say frozen. They still did not move. And we fixed on each other for over 5- minutes. They seemed to look around always looking in my general direction though. I then sniffed faintly through my nose and they broke for the woods in the same direction the noise was heard.  I then got down and walked to the house. I ran the noise over and over in my head. The only thing it sounded like to me was the sounds a two-cycle engine makes or a chainsaw. I asked my grandfather when I returned if anyone would be on the land behind ours that late and he replied no. I didn't describe much or say much for fear of being ridiculed by my grandfather. It was dismissed by my grandfather as being beavers harvesting wood. So theres the story and i never recalled
or thought of a bit of it until the sound bite, amazing.

Description of Creature:   n/a

Activities of Witness:   My activites were eating and enjoying the the weekend playing with my younger cousins. If it was Sunday, Going to church that morning. Can not recall anything out of the ordinary.

Other Notes:  The tree my stand was in is laying in two pieces, broken above the stand itself. dismissed as Hurricane damage from Opal though. Other wise yes, just thought of something strange around the same time was found. I found the remains of a hunting dog that had been tangled in a fence. What was odd is that the leg was caught in the fence. In a one wire a per foot horizontally fence, not really meant to keep anything out, but rather to mark property. Strange thing is that no-one heard this animal in desperation. Animal was traced back to a lost hunting dog, of about couple months before I believe. We know this by the tag around the neck. Not sure this has anything to do with anything, but was unusal to me. A coyote skull was also found near this location.
