TIME: Late afternoon around 17:30 (5:30 P.M.)

LOCATION: Near Bedford Indiana, Lawrence County

TERRAIN: Wooded

OBSERVED: It was a warm fall evening and I had just been discharged from the Marines. I was out with a friends sister. We had been picnicking earlier in the day. We were driving around in the country enjoying the warm fall evening. I drove the truck down a narrow country lane just east of Bedford, Indiana. The road led to a bridge over XXXXXXXXXX Creek.

I stopped the truck on the east side of the bridge. My friends sister saw it first. She stated that someone was watching us. I looked up and was amazed at what I saw. There standing in the road was an animal it was covered in long, dirty, brown hair. it stood upright on two legs and was very tall, I would say at least 7 ft. I am an avid hunter and have spent many days out in the forests and fields here in Indiana.

I had an M1 carbine rifle in the truck. I grabbed the rifle and started moving toward the creature at about 75 yards the animal turned and ran off the road. I do remember a very strong oder as I moved closer to the creature's former location! When I came to the place where the thing had left the (road) I was amazed it had fled off the road into a tall thicket of multi rose bushes and those have thornes everywhere.

It was almost dark and the hair on the back of my neck were standing up. I walked back to the truck. My friend's sister was very scared and we left very quickly. This all occurred on a Saturday afternoon. I have often wondered why I did not attempt a shot but I guess I did not want to risk that maybe this thing might be human. It has been 20 yrs since this event but I still remember it like yesterday .

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES): We had just finshed picknicking earlier in the day. We were sitting in a pickup truck. It was very late in the afternoon. It was a warm fall evening.

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE: Tall about 7 ft. dirty, long, brown hair, upright on two legs, gave off a very pungent oder, had a large stride, it had long arms.
