TIME: 11:00 pm - 12:30 am
LOCATION: Monroe
County, Indiana
TERRAIN: Wooded
OBSERVED: While
going for a walk down a very remote country road late at
night, my friend and I heard something crashing through the
woods. It seemed to be running quickly, most likely on two
feet, through the thick woods that bordered the road,
without stumbling over roots, or bumping into trees. There
was about 50 feet of farmland between the woods and the
road. Whatever it was seemed to be going in the same
direction we were and was getting closer. Feeling
frightened, we turned around and headed back to his house.
After a few minutes, whatever it was also turned around and
headed again in our direction, crashing, "boom, boom, boom"
through the woods. We hurried up to his house and locked the
door to his apartment.
Additional Things:
My friend lived in an old farm
house that had been converted into 4 apartments, student
housing for I.U. students. The other three units were vacant
for the summer. When we entered the apartment, his cat was
acting very strangely, racing around and yowling. After
about ten minutes, we heard footsteps crunching on the
gravel drive outside and called the police. We secured all
of the windows and doors and waited. After about five
minutes, we heard the police car driving up the driveway. At
that moment, we heard the vestibule door open and
something/someone stepped into the entry foyer for the 4
apartments. Unfortunately, the police officer just made a
quick drive around the building and left. We took that
opportunity to run out the back door and get into my
friend's car, driving away quickly. When my friend returned
the next day, there was no evidence of anything having been
there.
Activities of Witness:
My friend
was a percussion student at Indiana University and often
used his time at home to practice drumming, which is why he
had to live so far outside of the city. Normally he would
not have heard many outside noises. Prior to our walk, we
had been having dinner in his apartment. The area where this
occurred is very rural, with very few houses and a lot of
farm fields bisected by heavy woods.
Description of Creature: We never saw anything, but could not imagine
what kind of two-legged creature could run through the woods
in the dark without missing a step.
Other Notes: My friend said that his cat's behavior was extremely unusual when we returned that night.
Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General
Area) Notes:
None that
I am aware of.
