DATE:  08/75

TIME:  Afternoon

LOCATION: Hamiln, Kentucky, Calloway County

TERRAIN:  Woody, hilly, lowlands of Kentucky

OBSERVED:    My family and I were on vacation in western KY near xxxxxxxx Lake, at our mobile home. I was 11 years old at the time and for some reason I was alone. My parents may have gone to pick up my brothers from the lake. I don't remember what I was doing, but I heard some noise coming from the creek near by. The land came straight out from the back of the mobile home for several feet, then went down at about a 45 degree angle quite a way to a creek (no more than 3 feet wide) at the bottom.

I looked out of the window to the back door and saw something HUGE and hairy down by the creek. It was standing facing away from me. At some point during this I had opened the door and stepped out, because when I figured out what it was I panicked. When trying to back up the stairs into shelter I slipped and the door banged all the way open, getting the attention of "it" down at the creek. It seemed to take a step towards me, on two feet. I don't know if it was mad or curious. I just turned around and got in and locked the door. I then layed down on the floor, next to the wall so it could not see me if it looked in the window. I have no memory of anything else.

I don't remember telling anyone what I saw at the time. My siblings would have never let me hear the end of it. The thing that made me seriously consider that it was real is that I DID get up in front of my sixth grade science class and tell them what happened. Some kids laughed, but my teacher took me seriously.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):  I don't remember

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:  Huge, dark brown or brown hair. Thinking back from the vantage point I was at, looking down, it was probably about 7 - 8 feet tall.

OTHER NOTES:  I have no clue as to what I heard. The windows were probably open because we didn't have air conditioning at the time. Sound travels well in secluded areas like this.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA?:  None that I know of in this area, but there have been sightings a county or two away.  I do know that sometimes we felt like we were being watched while swimming,  hiking, or fishing.
