DATE:    November 23, 2003

TIME:     9:00 pm

LOCATION:   Rapides Parish, Louisiana

TERRAIN:    This area is within the Kasatchie National Forest surrounding a military installation. This area is very hilly, mixed pines and lots of dark, hardwood bottoms. I should note that this entire area is gated and locked up except for the open deer and turkey seasons. It is a remote spot that sees very little human contact.

OBSERVED:    l arrived at the campsite about 6 that evening, and sat there in the dark looking at the stars for a long time. My friends were bringing most of the camping gear so there wasn't much I could do until they arrived. About 9 that evening I heard a knocking sound coming from the bottom that follows the ridge that the logging road is on. The best I can describe it is that it sounded kind of like taking a baseball bat and hitting a tree 3 times. After I heard the first knocks there was 2 different sets of knocks followed. They seemed to be of a different tone and location spread out across the bottom. I listened to the knocks for 2 - 3 minutes. They were moving through the bottom and knocking the trees maybe every 10 yards or so. Sometimes there was two knocks and sometimes 3 from each separate set of knocks. Thinking about it now, it was like somebody or something was doing a deer drive. By this time I didn't know what the heck this could be. I am not one to be scared of the dark or anything else for that matter, but this raised the hair up on the back of my neck! I spent the next hour locked up in my truck until my friends arrived. This was a moon less night and that bottom is dark even in the daytime, so I know no humans were walking through that place without lights! I know no one else was in that area, it is so quiet out there you can hear a vehicle hit the gravel roads miles away.

Activities of Witness:   N/A

Description of Creature:  N/A

Other Notes:    It was not until recently that I have been researching Sasquatch/Bigfoot on the internet and saw that they have been known to communicate by knocking on trees and also I saw pics of stick formations, bowed and broken trees, and crosses that look exactly like what I have been puzzled about in the woods. I noticed also that Rapides Parish has a lot of sightings listed on some web sites.

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:    In the past two years of hunting in this area, I have noticed some out of place things that just did not look naturally occurring. I have seen some bowed trees, weird stick formations, even some big crosses made from 3 - 3 1/2" trees, even some trees broken off 6 - 6 1/2 ft. off the ground that defy a logical explanation.

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments N/A
