DATE:    1978

TIME:     Daytime

LOCATION:   St. Landry Parrish, Louisiana

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:    My deceased wife wanted this story to be told. It was the Summer of 1978 in the town of XXXXXXXX, La. My wife was a girl of 10, her brother was 7 and they were with there Daddy. A police officer, a sargent at the time. They were camping in a place called XXXXXX. Its an old fishing hole a mile or so on the levee road North of XXXX. My wife and brother in law walked to the pits with there BB gun to see what they could shoot, snakes and such. The camp was around a half mile from the pits. They were out there a while it was late in the evening. The sun was starting to set and it was behind them. My wife said that she felt odd, like something was watching them. They both smelled it at the same time. They turned around and both saw it at the same time. The sun was glaring in there eyes but they could see the outline of this creature. They said that it was big. They that it was big. Seven to eight feet tall. It had a pointed head, no neck, slightly glowing red eyes. It stunk like a wet dog that rubbed on a skunk. Its hands were below its knees. It had massive shoulders and arms. They said that it stood perfectly still and looked at them. After what they said was a few minutes it started swaying back and fourth but didn't make noise. That's when they took off running back to the camp, FULL THROTTLE. They told there Daddy, my father in law what happened. He said, Aww yaw saw a bear. My wife then said Daddy it wasn't in a tree and it was taller than you. He slid out his service revolver and told them not to go back there with out an adult. I believe my deceased wife and brother in law. They went to college and don't full around like some people do. They told the same EXACT STORY and I talked to them separately. Coincidentally that year and the year after six or so people in the XXXXXXXXX area reported to ST. Landry Sheriff Department about seeing Bigfoot or Bigfeet. My wife told her Grandpaw about what happened. He was full blooded Choctaw Indian. He said some Choctaw name for it. He said that it was watching over them. Something else was out there and it scared them away for there own protection. The old man may have been right.
