DATE:    01/10/2004

TIME:     N/A

LOCATION:   st. martin parish, louisiana

TERRAIN:    Swampy

OBSERVED:    In January of 2004, several hunters were sleeping at their camp which was located at the mouth of a canal entering a large lake area, all surrounded by deep cypress swamp.

As they always did when the weather was moderate for that time of year, the front door to the camp was left open in order to get a cool breeze through the camp, only the screen door was closed and locked.

In the early morning hours, the hunter who was sleeping in the front room with the opened door, was awakened by a loud thumping against the camp.  As he came too, he realized that the thumping was the screen door being pulled and released.  What he saw was a very large creature, stooped down fumbling with the screen door and was now staring at him through the screen.  He described the creature as being much taller than the door frame and was stooping down.  Being very much alarmed he woke the rest of the camp up shouting then they all heard something moving very fast alongside the camp headed back into the cypress swamp.

Additional Info:    N/A

Activities of Witness:    Sleeping in bed with door opened towards the lake.

Description of Creature:  Taller than the door frame, hairy!

Other Notes:    The previous owner of the camp, would not venture out after dark, acknowledging that something was always in the area.

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:    Yes!  One sighting and encounter reported to GCBRO, several miles north from this location.  The time of year seems to be significant in these reports from this area.  All late December through January and February.

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments I just submitted a report from St. Martin Parish dated back to January of 2004.  One of my guys was able to attend a hunt out of this camp which controls roughly a thousand acres of swampland.  It’s private and the folks who own this land have had it since the beginning of time...all are extremely wealthy etc...you get the picture...this has been private land for ages and gated at every canal and passageway.  Very few people outside of them, and maybe some cajun outlaws hunt the property, the canals are gated with iron bars and locks so no fishing is allowed either!

Well after the day hunt, the camp talk started around the topic of strange things in the swamp.  Well the now owner of the property started with his BF story which I reported.  This was told to my employee who relayed the story to me.
