TIME: evening
LOCATION: St.
Martin Parish, Louisiana
TERRAIN: Swampy
OBSERVED: This was reported to a GCBRO Member,
June 26th, 2014.
The area in question is a
small settlement of camps and residences which are located
on the banks of a large bayou. Smaller bayous branch
off from this main waterway, and extend into the swamp at
various distances, some up to a mile or more.
Residents, including the witness, have heard in the late
evening hours, weird screams that come from the deep swamp
to their east. The witness states that after this
single scream, which he described as nothing he's heard from
wildlife that he familiar with... the wildlife in the swamp
respond and all h#$$ breaks lose for a few seconds and then
quiets down. He says he hears owls, and a coyote in
the response, but that was all he could identify. The scream
was much further away and sounded nothing like any of these
creatures. They would sit and listen with the children
becoming scared, and a few minutes later another single
scream, but with no response from the local wildlife this
time. He has had a couple of instances where he has
been running traps fairly deep in the area and has had the
hair on the back of his neck stand up and have a feeling of
anxiety. He left the area both times. The time
of year is in the final winter months before spring and he
has heard these screams in 2013, about the same time of
year!! No other residents will speak on the matter
publicly.
