TIME: 11:30pm
LOCATION: Worcester
County, Massachusetts
TERRAIN: Wooded
OBSERVED: I
noticed what I first thought was a black bear which is a
rare occurrence but becoming more common in our area. I then
realized this was a lot bigger than a black bear should be
and it was more brown in color. It seemed to be human like
because of the fact it was hunched over doing something. (as
a person would look if he/she was down on one knee tying
their shoe). Should probably note that When I saw it
thinking it was a bear i Pulled over and shut my truck off
but left the lights on hoping not to scare it, I was about
50 feet away. I wanted to move closer so I started the truck
back up. That's when it stood on two feet, looked at the
truck and then scurried away almost as a gorilla would
(using all 4s).
Additional Things:
Today
I went out a bit earlier to the same spot to see if I could
figure out what it was doing and sure enough there was a bag
of trash on the side of the road that had been gone through.
There were raccoon prints around it but I wasn't able to
find anything else.
Activities of Witness:
Driving home from meeting up
with a few friends at the local gas station.
Description of Creature: Short
probably 5'5" Not sure if it was muscular or just looked
bulky because of the amount of fur/hair it had. Regardless
of muscle tone I would have to guess it was 130-160 pounds.
Acted kind of like a gorilla I have seen a time or two at a
zoo and on TV. Didn't just walk but could stand and walk but
went to all fours.
Other Notes: N/A
Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General
Area) Notes:
Sightings - not to my
knowledge. I haven't heard anyone speak about seeing or
hearing a big foot in particular however I have heard locals
talk about strange animal vocalizations. Of course they
didn't use the word vocalizations but I've heard stories
from old timers such as a deep voiced man yelling and other
people's stories about screaming. Always at night. I was
told that back in the 70s in the same area a few neighbors
were fishing at the local pond during the night and heard
what they thought was a man yelling in the woods for help. A
search party of neighbors went into the woods thinking
someone was in need of help but didn't recover anything or
anyone. And no one was reported missing or hurt in the
woods. They'd know seeing as Dudley was even a smaller town
then.
