OBSERVED:     My encounter happen many years ago. I was with a group of friends. we were camping at Green Ridge Forest for opening day of trout season.The weather was cold with snow on the ground. This is a primitive camping area.I am pretty sure we were the only campers there. Some day time traffic but none at night.Green Ridge is around 47,000 acres and back in the day seldom did you see anyone there in bad weather except hunters in season. Our group of 5 was cooking dinner over the fire around 8:00 in the evening when we heard a loud call about 200 yards away. The call started out somewhat soft and got louder. It was a single call that lasted maybe ten seconds. the best way that I can describe the call is it sounded like a inhale exhale call like an agitated gorilla would make. We all looked at each other and laughed and said what the hell was that. Although we were all in our mid twenties collectively we had about more than seventy years of hunting and outdoors experience. To this day I do not know of any native animal that make a sound like that. I can still hear the call like it was yesterday(it happened thirty years ago). I have been an avid hunter and outdoors man for over Forty five years and still can not explain that call. With the day and age of the computer I have found that there were reports of bigfoot sightings in the early eighties there. I have also found two other that have reported the same sound that i heard that were accompanied by sightings. Once again I question myself what the hell was that I heard that could snowy night?

Activities of Witness:   We were all sitting around the fire eating and talking.
 

Description of Creature:  We never saw the animal. 
 

Other Notes:     I can not explain what I heard that night. As far as I know there are no animals that make a call like that in the USA.


Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:     Yes a flurry of sightings during that time frame have been reported.
