REPORT RECEIVED: From the GCBRO Online Reports Submission Form

DATE:  August 15, 1998

TIME:  Dusk

LOCATION: Michigan,  Ontonagan County, Greenland township, The Firesteel River

TERRAIN:  Swampy lowlands surrounded by VERY dense forest

OBSERVED:   Well here it goes, I dont know why I am posting this because nobody else believed me anyways. One August evening I was sitting in a treestand overlooking a bear bait pile hoping to see a bear.
Well I did in fact see a bear.  While this large boar bear was eating some fish off the pile Me and him both heard some screaches.  When we heard this again the bear looked over towards a creek.  All of the sudden this bear took off as if I shot at him.  I mean this bear was terrified.  I figured a larger bear was in the  area.  After watching and listening for a while and not seeing anything I decided to leave before it got dark on me. (I did not bring a light)  Just as I was about to climb down from the tree I heard a twig snap over by the creek.  When I looked up I seen a creature that was walking upright and stood taller than any bears we have in Michigan.  I still thought it was a bear until it came closer.  Thats when I knew this was a bigfoot type thing.
Now let me tell you now that I never gave bigfoot any thought before that moment.  I was now shaking like a leaf on a windy day.  I had a firearm on me at the time.  However just like a bear I would not shoot the creature unless it was attacking me.
As it approached to within 25 yards it suddenly stopped and looked right at me.  It then lowered its head and took off running towards the creek.  I figured this is a good time to get the hell out of there when i climed down I started walking the trail out.  I seen it cross my path in front of me I had allready shit on myself by this time but I kept walking slowly towards the thing when it finally disappeared into the dense forest.  When I got back to town and I mentioned  this to a few locals I was laughed out of town.

The next morning I ran into a old time logger that I shared my story with and he told me of an encounter where he was actually saved by a bigfoot in the 1950s when a tree fell on him during a logging accident. He was only partially covered by the fallen tree but he was yelling for help and he blacked out.  He was awakened by being dragged from beneath the tree by a bigfoot while another lifted the tree. He then crawled to his team (horses) and left the area.  What area Greenland township in Ontonagon count Michigan. He said he was laughed at and ridiculed for 30 years because of his story.  When he overheard me he said that he had to find me to tell me I wasnt crazy or stupid and that at least we both have at least one witness, kind of.  I went with him out to the
site the next day and he pointed out several sets of tracks indicating that there were more than one in the area.
I must say that they were not interested in my bait pile. They must be Vegitarians or something. I never enter this area without a video camera now but I have yet to see them again.
This area I am talking about is very secluded and remote with lots of swamp.I feel that I will someday soon have
the proof that we all are waiting for to prove to the world that this is for real.
I will keep you updated on my research.
