DATE:    06/17/11

TIME:     2:00  am

LOCATION:   Benton County, Missouri

TERRAIN:    Swampy

OBSERVED:    My friend and I were packing our fishing gear from our boat after loading out of the river because of a large storm headed our way and heard a horrendous loud roaring scream just to the east of us in the swamp. There are no roads or anyway for someone to have been where the scream came form and no one else was at the ramp that night at all and this is MILES from any civilization. Just prior to that we saw some amber colored eyes in the distance in that same area while coming to the boat ramp. I had seen some deer in that area and some coons earlier but their eyes are way different colored than these and these were way wider spaced than deer or coons It was too far away to see a shape but it was tall and moved very quickly.

Additional Info:    A  while back ,(probably around two years ago) we had another encounter at this very same spot and it was during another storm when it happened. We had just loaded out our boat and were sitting in my friend's truck (the boat was on my truck, his was just the pickup) waiting for the huge storm to pass so we could fish some more. We were sitting there watching some very bad lightning and about that time something hit the side of his truck and pushed the tail of the truck down HARD ! We both were stunned . My friend jerked around to see if I had jumped up or something and I did the same . We both said "What the heck was that"?? I rolled the window down a crack and he turned on the lights and there was nothing there ! There was not a bit of wind or breeze either and no trees close for a limb to fall. It felt as if a three hundred pound man had jumped on the back of the truck.

Activities of Witness:   We had been catfishing on the river all evening. We were heading in to the ramp on count of a oncoming storm coming out of Kansas heading our way with high winds and hail and lightning.

Description of Creature:  We did not see anything but the eyes along the river from our boat but the scream later from the bank was hair raising. I have hunted and fished central to southwestern Missouri all my life at night and have heard every creature you could imagine and this was just way to loud and angry sounding to be any animal that lives in this area. It sounded a lot like what I have heard on your show. I have just been reluctant to tell many folks about this until I saw your show and found out it is a lot more common than I realized.

Other Notes:    N/A

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:    Back in the late nineties I heard another one in St. Clair Co. Mo. just a few miles south of there while predator calling at night with a rabbit call. We had just called a fox in and it got close and about that time the creature let out a scream that echoed the whole Creek bottoms ! The fox even turned and ran ! We jumped in the vehicle and locked the doors and turned on the lights and got out of there. I was scared to death and I have been a avid night hunter for my whole life but had NEVER heard anything that loud and angry sounding !
