Reported by: Confidential

Report Received From: The GCBRO Online Report Submission Form.

DATE:    October 1998

TIME:     Around 5:00 p.m.

LOCATION:   Franklin County, Missouri

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:    I was about 8 years old at the time when I was walking up the hill from swinging in the hammock that we have on the edge of our woods. The wind was blowing really hard and when I turned my head to brush the hair out of my face I heard a tremendous crashing noise. Looking towards the woods I saw a large hairy creature with dark hair, standing about 6 feet tall. The creature was standing erect next to a tree and had torn a large limb from the tree. The creature stumbled forward a bit and I turned and ran. I am now 13 years old and I still cant walk in our woods without getting a nervous feeling as if something is going to jump out in front of me. Shortly after the incident I asked my dad if there were any bears in our woods and he laughed and told me no. I am not sure what I saw that day but I have not told many people about it but I am still on a hunt to find whatever it was that I saw.

Activities of Witness:   I was swinging in the hammock near the edge of our woods.

Description of Creature:  It stood erect with it's shoulders slouched forward and looked to be about 6 foot. It had dark hair that looked shaggy and unkept.

The creature let out a low growl but the wind snatched the sound away so it didn't seem very loud or high pitched as others have described it.

Other Notes:    The two girls I baby-sit told me a similar story that had occurred in early 2003. They had been outside on the swing set with their moth when their dog, XXXXXX, started barking at something. When the girls heard a loud cracking noise they turned their heads and saw a large hairy creature standing about 7 foot. The creature had broken a large branch off a nearby tree that stood alone in the field next to the swing set. The creature stood about 20 feet away from the girls and their mother worried gathered them up and went in the house. XXXXXX went chasing after the creature and later came back unharmed. I looked at the tree and noticed that none of the limbs above the broken one had been damaged so I knew it wasn't lightning and the stub of the broken of limb was very thick at the base and looked as if the branch would have been strong to resist a full grown man but what the girls described to me sounded alot bigger than a full grown man.

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments Upon contact the witness had this additional information to add to their report.
There is something that I forgot to add to my story. It happened in fall 2003 a few weeks into October. I was sitting in the hammock (the same one that I sat in when I had my first sighting). I was talking on the phone with my friend Michelle when I heard a loud hooting noise. The noise was nothing like I have ever heard and is hard to describe. It was like a barking but a bit higher pitched and then it like turned into a cawing sound like a chicken I have told my friends that it sounded like a chicken/dog. The sound would stop and then start again and it would always sound closer. After about the third time hearing it I got scared and went inside. My friend on the phone did not hear the sound but does remember the fear in my voice when I told her to be quiet after the second time I had heard the sound.
