LOCATION:   Pontotoc County, Mississippi

OBSERVED:    My mother, my two kids, and myself were traveling in the car on some of the back roads near our house. We were looking around the area for some good fishing holes, but mostly just goofing off and exploring the back roads. I was driving on a gravel road in a heavily wooded area when I saw something cross the road in front of us.

 I slammed on the brakes, and as we skidded a little in the gravel, I watched it cross the road very rapidly.

 It was two legged, tall, and black. I was so caught by surprise, that I was speechless. The children did not see anything, but my mother admitted to seeing "something". She says she didn't see it long enough to get any details except it was big and black.

 It crossed the road so fast it seemed to just take two or three strides to make it.

 I asked Mom, "You see that? What the hell was that?"

 She said, "I don't know, it was too fast."

 We crept up (in the car of course) to the spot where I saw it disappear, and saw nothing. We sat there for a couple of minutes, but heard nothing or saw anything else. We DID NOT get out since I had no idea what it could have been and I was not about to find out the hard way.

 I pretty much put the incident out of mind but wondered about it occasionally.

 Recently, as I was surfing the web, I came across your site and others that had sightings of a Bigfoot-like creature and casts of some footprints in Mississippi! I was floored! The chills still creep up my neck as I write this. I started to not write at all, but the more I read, the more I felt it was my duty to let someone else know about this incident. So here it is.
 

Activities of Witness:   Driving down a gravel back road. Not too fast. We were looking out the windows and not talking much.
 

Description of Creature:  Tall.....walked on two legs.....long strides......black
 

Other Notes:    It was too quick and the radio was on in the car..when we stopped to listen, I turned the radio down to hear, but heard nothing
 

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments:  Upon contact the witness added.   I never would have reported this if I hadn't seen this web site. I have never seen anything like this before, and I have never seen anything like it  since. I believe that some other reports have been made around in this area, but I have only seen them online and not heard them with my own ears.
I concur that I could have mistaken the identification of this creature in the very short period of time that I saw it. But I believe what I saw and until proven otherwise, I stand by it.
