OBSERVED:
My friend I had known for sometime during the spring
of 1989 lived and worked on a ranch in Montana.  He
was out working the cattle on a far edge of the ranch.
 He worked this area alone and was the only person out
there at that time.  One evening after checking for
strays he was returning to his cabin.  As he rode his
horse down the  path leading back to the cabin his
horse started to buck and act up.  It was at that time
he got a glimpse of something jump back into the woods
and this awefull smell hit him, which he described as
a cross between three day old garbage that had been
left out in the noon day sun and a skunk.  When he was
able to control the horse, he got the horse into a bit
of a run going towards the cabin.  As he past the
place where the creature jumped back in the woods, he
told me he caught another glimpse of the creature
crouching down behind a tree.  He told me that once he
got back to the cabin he grabed his rifle and climbed
up into the rafters of cabin to gain a position he
could watch the windows and the door.  He stayed that
way until the next morning when he climbed back down
and rode rather quickly to the main ranch house.
