OBSERVED:
Myself and a friend went camping on 4-7-07 upstream from XXXXXX NC. We
were about 12 miles from anywhere in the middle of the swamp lands
along the rivers edge. We had arrived early afternoon and had spent the
afternoon fishing for stripers , caught 3...
My friend .............. called it a night around 900 pm and fell asleep
on the pontoon boat. I made my way to the rear of the pontoon boat along
with xxxx , my dog , about 10:30 pm. The night was strangely calm to boot
, not a breath of air to speak of. I was awaken by my dog at 3:30
am , he was fidgety about something and awoke me. I had noticed the fire
had gone out and I decided I would get up and restart it , what the hell.
It was a early morning and dead calm, time for a hot cup of coffee I thought.
I restarted the fire with xxxx, my dog by my side. After the
fire was going good I had a cup of coffee and a few minutes later heard
what sounded like a cinder block thrown in the river over bye the pontoon
boat. It was not a tree falling , a branch falling , a big fish jumping
out of the water , etc. This was a heavy object thrown into the river.
The first thing I thought of was a old episode on bigfoot. I remembered
investigators being taunted by something throwing rocks at them as they
were trying to investigate it. I heard this LOUD "KAPLUNKKKK"
in the river and also felt as though I was being watched. A minute
or two went bye and I heard the same thing again, just a bit farther downstream
from the boat this time. The strange thing is this, my dog investigates
every crackle or sound it hears in the woods all the time, he did not want
any part of this noise at all, sat right there next to me the entire time
it went on. The noise happened again in about 5 minutes or so, total
was 5 or 6. It was the strangest loud sound I have ever heard in the woods
and I cannot explain what might of made it, I felt like I was watched the
whole time, this only made things worse.
In the morning my friend mark asked me if I had heard the very loud sound
about 4:00 am. He said he thought I was up and throwing things in
the river. I still feel like something very weird happened that early morning
and I and some friends are going back there in a couple of weeks prepared
this time, camcorders and sound recorders at the least.
