REPORT RECEIVED FromThe GCBRO Online Report Submission Form.

DATE:    04/30/2003

TIME:     2:00 am

LOCATION:   North Carolina, Sampson County

TERRAIN:    Wooded, Wetlands

OBSERVED:    First, let me say that there is approximately 60 acres of undeveloped wetland behind our house. A very large ditch behind our house is the only separation. We've had some strange things happen since we've been here (9 years).

This same night I had been up and down with my dogs since 1:30 p.m. My dogs are usually very quiet. On this night they barked and growled from 1:30 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. (daylight). My large dog (150 lbs.) is on a 25 foot lead so he cannot leave the yard. When I looked out at 2:00 a.m. he was on his hind legs trying the break the steel cable he is on. I never saw anything strange but I was up all night because of my dogs.

This same week I was told that something had eaten three ducks in this area.

Since this night we have had to burn flood lights every night across the yard to keep the dogs quiet. (It does not like light.) On two nights my husband loaded his shotgun and fired across the ditch bank because some thing was getting the dogs very upset (they were barking and trying to get across the ditch).

For the past year every time we cook out #### (my large dog) heads to the same direction at the ditchbank barking & growling. I have known #### to sit like a sentry at this spot all night. Last Summer when cooking out #### headed to the ditch barking and then we heard this low growl twice. My husband said the only animal close to that growl was a bear. #### sat at the ditchbank all night that night. A week later my husband and a friend walked the area behind the house looking for any signs of a bear - there were none.

Also, since last year our little dog ##### is scared to go outside. Sometime last year he got where he would sneek into the house and hide. Whenever you put him outside he just starts trembling. We had to put a large box under the carport for him to hide in during the day.

Activities of Witness:   N/A

Description of Creature:    N/A

Other Notes:    I did not personally see it but a friend of mine did. He is extremely trustworthy, honest and his story kinda blends in with the other events of the night going on at my house.

He said he worked until almost 2:00 a.m. When he got to my house he saw something on the side of the road move. Suddenly it ran across the road, in front of his vehicle. When the lights hit this creature it turned its head for a second and looked his way then ran on across the road into the woods. He said the creature was so tall he would have to bend over to get through a doorway. He was not a black person or white person (he couldn't really describe the color). It had thick dark hair that went back. He could mostly see the eyes and very large teeth protruding from its mouth. It's body appeared to be wearing something greyish or it was grey. (He said it looked exactly like a creature he saw in a movie, The Twilight Zone , the creature was sitting on the wing of a plane in the movie. I've never seen the movie so I can't really relate.)

I have been to him probably 15 times asking for the description again and if he's really telling the truth. He stills swears he saw what he described.

My friend noticed that I had my outside lights on that night when he came by on his way home from work. The next morning he started the conversation by saying, "Do you usually burn the carport lights all night? I noticed they were on (lights) when I came by your house about 2:00."

Additional Notes or Comments I have talked to the Sheriff about this. He just told me to call 911 if I see it or hear it. He didn't even laugh when I told him about the creature.
