DATE:  78/79

TIME: afternoon

LOCATION:  North Carolina, Stanly County

TERRAIN:  Wooded

OBSERVED:   the first time, my dog was barking at the field behind my house. My friend and I looked out into the field, and saw the creature.  We went to get my mom, and when we got back, it had evidently gone into the woods.

the second time , I was walking my dog deep in the woods. We were at the creek , and I heard something coming down the hill on the other side.  I saw it coming in our direction, grabbed my dog, and ran as fast as I could.  in the woods, near the first sighting, I found  half eaten cobs of raw corn (from the field) and some bones, on  a tree stump, and tree branches pulled down and seemingly placed for shelter.

For a good year or more, at night, I would hear this awful, spine chilling 'howl' or 'call' or whatever it was.  It would scare me so much,  I would lie in bed with the covers over my head.  When my dad finally heard it , he asked around(we were new in town)and was told it must be a catamount , which I guess is some type of mountain lion.  I never saw a mountain lion in those woods, but I did (twice!) see what I can only explain as 'Bigfoot'.

Activities of Witness:  N/A

Description of Creature:  N/A

Other Notes:I saw it twice , once walking along a path by the woods in a corn field ,

Additional Notes or Comments:   in the woods , near the first sighting , I found  half eaten cobs of raw corn (from the field) and some bones , on  a tree stump , and tree branches pulled down and seemingly placed for shelter
