REPORT RECEIVED: From the GCBRO Online Report Submission Form

DATE:  05/18/00

TIME:  Approximately 5:45 PM (1745)

LOCATION:    Between Madison and Walnut Cove, North Carolina,  Occurred in Stokes County.

TERRAIN:    Thickly wooded with hardwoods, dense undergrowth, deep gulleys, and creek

OBSERVED:  I live in Rockingham County and work in Forsyth County.  My  commute to work is 42 miles one way.  My route of travel is US 311 South from Madison through Walnut Cove to Walkertown and then to Winston-Salem.

While going to work on the afternoon of the 18th(?) of May, I just happened to look out (to my right) across the bottom land of Carmichael Creek (just outside Walnut Cove) and noticed that the land had just been planted with corn.  This bottom land is huge (probably 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile long (maybe longer) and 1/4 mile wide on both sides of the road).  To the left, you can see the Belews Creek Duke Power Steam Station smokestacks in the distance. Anyway, looking to the right, I saw (about 1/4 mile away) two (2) reddish brown colored objects (creatures?) in the field.

The objects (creatures?) appeared to be looking at something on the ground.  One of the objects (creatures?) appeared to be down on all fours looking at or maybe eating something (grains of corn?) and the other appeared to be about 5 feet away from it but facing it and down on its knees but sort of sitting on its feet.

I could not really distinguish the shape or features as far as head, arms, etc. but the one sitting on its feet appeared to be the bigger of the two.  I would estimate the size of the bigger one to be approximately 7-7 1/2 feet tall if it stood up.  The smaller one would probably be 6-6 1/2 feet if it stood up.

I could not believe my eyes, so I turned the car around and came back for another look.  They were still there.  I drove about a 1/4 mile north on US 311 and turned around and headed back south again.  Again, they were still there looking at something on the ground.  I was astonished.  I wasn't sure that I believed what I had just seen.  Anyway, I have been hashing it over in my mind since then and only last week I told my daughter and wife about it.

Description of Creature:      Two reddish brown creatures, one on all fours, other one sitting on his feet, est. height if standing for taller creature - 7 - 7 1/2' and smaller one 6 - 6 1/2 '

Activities of Witness:   Driving to work

Other Notes:  I have also observed (while passing through the area at late night on my way home) there appears to be little evidence of deer, raccoons, possums, or rabbits in the area.  I have seen no evidence of road-kill or observed eye reflections in the car headlights.

The area surrounding the bottoms is very thickly wooded with hardwoods, dense undergrowth, deep gulleys, and of course there is Carmichael Creek.  There are some houses nearby (maybe 1/2 mile away) in either direction of the bottoms.

Other Other Notes:  There were other automobiles traveling along US 311 in both  directions at this time.  I don't know if anyone else saw anything.  Nobody appeared to be concerned or maybe they just  didn't pay attention.

More Notes:  Everytime I go through there (late at night) I get the feeling  of the hair standing up on my arms and the back of my neck and goose bumps all over me.  I also have a feeling of being watched!
