DATE:    May 12, 2006

TIME:     Approx. 9:00 pm

LOCATION:   Sussex County, New Jersey

TERRAIN:    N/A

OBSERVED:    A friend and I were fishing on a pond in a canoe. We started at around 6 and before long it started to get dark.  We were drifting in the canoe when our silence was broken by what sounded like a woman screaming on the mainland about 100 feet in.  We sat there motionless in the canoe listening to what sounded like a woman screaming and whatever it was screamed 2 more times.  After it screamed our attention was turned to something running in the mainland woods a little ways away from the screaming sound.  The movement was definitely bi-pedial as we could hear each foot crash into the ground.  Whatever was running in the woods sounded huge and as it ran it sounded like a bulldozer plowing through the woods because we heard alot of branches and sticks breaking.  The thing ran towards the screaming sound breaking alot of branches and sticks as it ran.  My friend and I sat there motionless in the canoe staring at where the noises were coming from but it was so dark we could not even see 2 feet into the woods.  The thing eventually stopped running and the last thing we heard from it was its last couple of foot steps as they were loud.  You could hear its foot hit the ground as it stopped.  We could not see anything for the 45 minutes or hear anything.  Its like they were completely still watching us.  We were stunned at that point because at one point the thing running was making alot of noise and then it just went eerily quiet.  We eventually rowed away but I believe they eventually caught wind of us.  That would explain why it was loud at one point and then silent the next.  We were in a canoe so we were not making any noise at all not even paddling.  We know what we heard that night and I will never forget it.

Activities of Witness:   We went on a fishing trip together.  Just my friend and I.

Description of Creature:  Did not see anything due to the darkness and lack of a flashlight.

Other Notes:    There is nothing really to ad to this report except that as we were leaving in the canoe a mile or two up the hill we heard a large pack of coy dogs howling in the distance.  Don't know exactly that they were coy dogs only that we heard howling sounds as we left.  Also right before we had the encounter there was an annoying beaver that kept hitting its tail against the water and scaring the shit out of us.  I hope it was a beaver although we never saw the beaver.

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:    Back in the year 98 or 99 in the same place.  Walking along a trail by the pond a friend and I stopped in the middle of the path to smoke a cigarette and we were startled by the weirdest growl or shriek I have ever heard in my life.  It sounded like a elephant blowing its nose.  Its hard to explain the sound it made only that it defies logic.  Then it proceeded to stomp on the ground either by its foot or with a log.  The stomping sound was very loud and shook the ground be ninth us.  It continued to stomp and vocalize until we ran out of there.  It had to of been 50 feet from us by the way the ground shook.  My guess is that we were in its way.

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments I have since become very interested in the subject of bigfoot and I am constantly finding evidence in the woods of Sussex County.
