DATE:                 10-20-78  Over the week of the 20th - 27th

TIME:

LOCATION:         Taos, New Mexico,  Pueblo

TERRAIN:              Mountains

OBSERVED:          My husband was contracted to do some tile work in a Christian summer camp about 20 miles up from Toas. It was early morning, around 3 a.m. when we arrived at the camp that was, of course, empty for the coming winter months. The caretaker and carpenter, who was a Navajo Indian, had started a fire for us in our cabin earlier, the previous night, but had forgotten to leave the power on. It was very dark, mostly cloudy, but the moon did peek out at times. There was  perhaps 4-5 inches of snowfall accummulation.

We unloaded just what we needed and hurried to get a shower and try to find sleep before our alarm went off at 7 and the caretaker's arrival.  As we were about to climb into bed I decided to check out the view out of the back window of the cabin , which was beside the fireplace, and I could not believe what I was seeing... right outside the window to the left was a corner where the chimney and the cabin met and in the corner was a huge animal standing , or sorta leaning on the stones of the chimney.

I whispered for my husband to come and see. He ws speechless for what seemed forever and then said, "Let's move the bed quietly to the center of the cabin. We did! This animal stood perfectly still and had to be at least 9-10 feet tall. I say this because I am 5'10 and its elbow was at my eye level and had long medium brown hair hanging and blowing softly with the breeze. After we moved the bed, we continued to watch it and could see it had its hand outreached around the chimney when the moon peeked out. After a while we had been distracted by a noise in the front of the cabin and about the same time the moon went dark. When we retured to the window, it had gone. It was a shakey week for us.

After it had disappeared, we heard what sounded to me like a train roaring toward us and then by the cabn and gone. My hubby described it as a sound between an engine reving up slowly to an almost human male screaming for his life. We seemed to have heard different things.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESSES:   Well we were cold, tired, and still had road coming at us in our vision, but not that tired.

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   9-10 foot tall, long medium brown hair hanging and blowing softly

OTHER NOTES:     Yeah we Noticed the Caretaker never went a yard without his Rifle.... and told us of the navajo legend of the cannible beings. He told us delightful tales of the Navajo culture that I personally did not want to enjoy at the time.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA:   Yes.. for hundreds and hundreds of years
