LOCATION:    Near Greene, New York, Greene County

TERRAIN:      Wooded

OBSERVED:     My friend, who grew up in the area of the incident, relates the
story to me. Mr. D (as I'll call him) is a very reliable and level headed
fellow and not prone to making things up.

He tells me after the subject of Bigfoot came up that he was walking the woods
as a lad with his 22 one fine up-State NY Autumn day looking for squrrels
and enjoying a fine fall day.

As he was working his way up a large hill more deeply into the woods, he
heard a bellowing scream up ahead that "scared the living $#!* out of him".
He was so scared at hearing this sound that his "blood ran cold and the
hairs stood up on the back of his neck". "I don't recall ever hearing
anything like it", as he relates the story to me.

He lit out of there as fast as his feet could carry him and later came back
with a friend but they chickened-out before they got too close to the area
where the scream originated.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA:   Yes, there is a sighting in the same year posted on
another site of a woman in Cortland, NY (about 30 miles north of Greene) who had a too
close for comfort encounter with an up-right, dark shape as broad as a door
that followed her one evening.
