RECEIVED FROM: G.C.B.R.O. Web Site Submission Form

DATE:      07/95

TIME:      Mid Afternoon

LOCATION:   Nearest to Greenwood Lake, New York
                 Appalachain Trail Corridor, Orange County

TERRAIN:     Mountains

OBSERVED:    While hiking north-bound on the AT in the Summer of 95 I suddenly felt as though I was being observed from nearby. I had seen few hikers on the trail that afternoon and was walking solo hoping to make the next leanto before the afternoon thunderstorms let loose. They came like a monsoon that year, always in the later part of the hot afternoon regular as clockwork. Always cooled things off a bit before the evaporation made it seem like a jungle. The pleasure before the pain kind of thing. I looked up the ridge line off to my right and seemed to catch sight of a gray thing walking in my direction 100 feet or so above me. I only saw it for a second and as it was so hot, it might have only been sweat in my eyes. Can't say for sure.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):   Hiking the AT

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   Seemed to be a large, gray, manlike figure up atop the ridge line. Saw it for only a second tops.

OTHER NOTES:  Seems strange for such a populated area but there is lots of forest with rock over-hangs with plenty of water and forage. Many-many deer, bears and other critters too I understand. Not much hunting pressure as it's Bambi-lovers central there.

FOLLOW UPS:

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA:  Yes. Since there seem to be sightings in that area on a fairly regular basis. I figured I'd submit mine to see if anyone else can confirm.
