DATE:         11/25/91

TIME:          10:00 A.M.

LOCATION:   Plainfield, Ohio, Guernsey County

TERRAIN:     Wooded

OBSERVED:    It was the fall of 1991 and I was out bow hunting for white tail deer on a strip mine area of Guernsey County located in Plainfield, Ohio.  It was around 8:00 A.M. and I remember it was a colder than average morning for that time of year.  I was sitting 10 ft up in a tree stand that overlooked a 20 acre opening that laid just outside the heavy wooded area that I was hunting.

I remember seeing something move out of the corner of my eye to the left of me.  I turned my head slowly to the left, being carefull not to move too quick for fear of startling any deer that I thought might have been moving out into the opening to my right.  What I saw changed me for the rest of my life and I haven't told anyone about it until now.  What I saw was a huge ape like being that was standing no more than 30 feet of me.  It didn't see me nor smell my scent because it just stood there like it was smelling the air before it went out in the opening.  It looked just like an ape that was standing on its hind legs, only a lot taller.

I would guess his height was somewhere around 6 to 8 ft and had a slim muscular build.  After about 5 minutes it started to move across the opening with very long strides and before I knew it, the creature disappeared into that dark void that lays just behind the well lite early morning woods.  I also remember a very strong musky smell in the area when it was near me.  After it had gone the smell was gone also.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):  Deer hunting

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   6-8 ft. tall, slim, muscular build.  It looked just like an ape that was standing on its hind legs, only a lot taller.  Moved with very long strides.

OTHER NOTES:  Now that I think back on it, I remember there was an eary silence in the woods that morning.  Usually any other morning there are birds and squirrels making their noises, but not that morning.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA?:  I have been back to that area, not to hunt, and I haven't seen or smelled anything.  I scouted a 25 mile radius and didn't see or hear anything out of the ordinary.
