TIME:  evening

LOCATION:  Oklahoma, Nowata County

TERRAIN: Wooded

OBSERVED:  I have had a curious interest in Bigfoot for the past three and one half years.  My interest was peaked when I came across your GCBRO web page while surfing the net.  I found many similarities in the sightings posted on this BF web sites and an encounter relayed to me by a friend whose grandfather who ran into Bigfoot while ranching in S.E. Idaho.  The similarities intrigued me .

I might have dismissed my experience had I not been exposed to certain behaviors I've read about on your web site.

In the early spring of this year I purchased a hunting lease in N.E. Oklahoma.  After becoming familiar with the area and the landowner it became aware to me that there may be a possibility of Bigfoot activity.  Upon my questioning the land owner not only validated my suspicions but confided in me that he had personally had one eyewitness account himself.  He also informed me that other hunters and family members had also experienced class A sightings.  Although I sincerely believed him I thought that the chances of myself coming in any contact with such an animal were slim at best.  This however proved not to be the case.

My first encounter accrued while I was bow hunting in a tree stand.  While in the stand I heard distinct tree knocking from a distance.  I dismissed this at first as there are many sounds in the woods.  I changed my mind as the knocking increased and moved closer.  The knocking seemed to erupt in patters of 4-6 knocks, and from three different locations.  They seemed to almost circle around me but never accrued closer than about 100 yards.  The timber is thick on this portion of the lease.  I was not alarmed but thought this curious.  Shortly after this I heard a sound at very low volume which I can not describe or imitate.  It was not an aggressive sound but almost sounded like someone talking. The sounds were not discernible to me and not a phonetic pattern that I would expect from a human.  The knocking continued until dusk with breaks of 15-20 minute between them.  The knocks were in response to one another.  The locations would move between the previous knocking.  It soon became dark and I exited the woods.  I had parked near the home of the landowner.  As habit I checked the logbook to see if any other hunters were in woods.  There was no sign ins, other than my self.  I decided to inquire of the landowner as to whether or not he had been working in the yard.  He informed me he had not. I asked to know if anyone else was outside working and again he told me no. I thought this curious and placed this experience in my mental notes.

Three weeks later recalled this incident and determined that I may have actually witnessed what I doubted the first time.  The reason for recalling the incident was while getting out of my truck to sign out on the log sheets (located on the porch of the landowner) I along with my twelve-year-old son heard a Bigfoot vocalize. I know this with out hesitation because I have the sound file downloaded to my personal PDA. My PDA has a digital recorder built into the unit. The sound that we heard was one that was posted on another web site "Scream(1)wav".  I made a conscious effort to bring a recorder with me into the field, as I wanted evidence of any tree knocking in the future if it were to occur again.  I immediately pulled the pocket sized computer from my coat and replayed the wave file.  It was so amazing to me that they were a carbon copy of one another.  My son asked if I had been playing the sound file earlier as a joke.  He thought I might be trying to scare him. I knew then that I was not hearing things and that he had also heard the sound.  There was no doubt in my mind at this point that what I heard was real.  The owner of the property was next to my son at the time.  We had been checking on the corn feeders together.  He did not hear the sound and was unaware of the vocalization.  I played the recording back to him and his wife, they told me that they often hear that sound at night and thought it was just another sound .

I know now that it is very unlikely that anyone person would have created/hoaxed either one of these.  Why? because I was hunting all alone on private property.  Who in their right mind would try and trespass on leased hunting land?  The land is well posted and I don't think that anyone who was trespassing would try to give his or her location away. Not only would you face hostile landowners and hunters, but also you would scare all the game away. This was during archery season and no one I know knocks on trees to attract deer.  Although hunters use rattling antlers to mock the rut activities of deer, these were not anywhere close to the sounds made by deer rattling, or anyone trying to imitate this.  They were single distinct knocks with a resonating quality of a large limb, or wooden shaft.

Activities of Witness:   bow hunting in a tree stand & checking on the corn feeders.
