REPORT RECEIVED: From the GCBRO submissions page.  Confidential.

DATE:      1836

TIME:      Dusk

LOCATION:  Near present day Antlers, Ok. Pushmataha County,
                Near Muddy Boggy Creek

TERRAIN:     Wooded

OBSERVED:  In the book Okla Hanali, by R. A. Lafferty, Mr. Lafferty writes of whom he considers a fictional character, Okla Hanali Inomonee. In reality Okla Hanali Moshulotubbee was my ancestor on my father's mother's side of the family. Okla Hanali was reportedly eight feet, three inches tall and weighed in the neighborhood of six hundred pounds. The significance of his size  lay in the fact that his existence and size are actually historically documented.

My grandmother's father was in fact Okla Hanali's son Homas Moshulotubbee, and he was seven feet, ten inches tall and weighed probably about four hundred to five hundred pounds. In those days many of the old warrior Choctaws were exceedingly large men. Anyway, one night Okla Hanali (which interpreted means "six people") heard a commotion at the barn where his favorite horse was stabled. Hanali goes to the barn and finds a giant Hattak Offi rummaging through his corn storage  bin. Okla Hanali asked the Hairy Giant what it was doing in his corn, to which the Hattak Offi replied by hitting Hanali on top of his head. The Old Choctaws used to play a game called slap/swat, in which you hit each other over the head until one of the contestants either passed out or ran away. Believing Hattak Offi wanted to play, Okla Hanali gave his opponent a mighty blow over the head, and in turn the Hattak Offi let out a mighty howl, burst through the side of the barn, and ran away.

This story was related to me by my Grandmother when I was five  years of age.
