OBSERVED:   One of my clients went bowhunting for deer in the Fall . As accustomed, he was heading for the deer stand well before sunup. He had just parked his truck and after locking it up, proceeded to walk to his deer stand in total darkness with the exception of the light from the moon guiding him . After proceeding about 17 feet from his truck, someting large dropped out of a tree behind him and hit the ground with great force. Upon landing on the ground it let out a UMMPH  from the air expelling from its lungs from the jumpMy client  was pretty shook up and turned around instantly and ran for his truck. Remember, it was bow season, so he had no gun, just a bow and arrows, and knife. He stayed in the truck after turning on his head lights and seeing nothing, and waited for the sun to partly come up, and then went to his deer stand.

After a few hours of sitting in the stand and seeing no deer, which in itself is unusual as there are always plenty of deer in the area,  he went back to his truck to see if he could find the tracks of whatever had jumped out of the tree behind him. He did find a large heel track just like a human foot but very large in comparison.

Now I farm that piece of land and it had not rained for 45 days that year of 2000. It was one of the driest in Oklahoma. I went with him at his request to verify the tracks myself and did witness the heel tracks where the animal did land on the ground. Even though we had no rain and the ground was hard as cement it left a deep impression in the ground. I weigh 335 lbs and jumped beside the tracks and could not make as deep an impresssion in the soil as the animal did. The heel tracks were more than half as large as my own, and rounded skin, from going barefoot.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESSES:  Walking to his deerstand before daylight.
