Report Posted To GCBRO Web Site On  March 14, 2010

DATE:    10/??/96

TIME:     12:30 AM

LOCATION:   Klamath County, Oregon

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:    In my pickup driving northbound on 97, I came upon what appeared to be a huge bear bent over something on the fog line of the southbound lane..As I slowed to about 5 mph to pass it, this creature turned it's head to look at me and we made eye contact and I got the shock of my life...It had an ape -human face, no bears snout or little bear ears...The shoulders were massive..
This thing was as big as an Alaskan Coastal Brown bear....I either came to a complete stop or was just slowly rolling..I don't remember seeing his feet as he was on his hands & knees over a  road killed deer.  But I did scan down him.. He had hands not paws, fingers not claws....And he had an expression on his face of tired resignation like he wanted me to just leave..So I did, slowly accelerating as I watched him recede in the mirror.....

Activities of Witness:   Driving a pickup truck along a deserted stretch of two lane hwy...

Description of Creature:  Huge...description above..

Other Notes:    After this  incident I became extremely interested in the BF subject, reading everything I could about it...I live in Lane Co OR, heavily mountainous & wooded where people spend a lot of time working and playing in the mountains..
I began to ask many people I knew and worked with if they'd had sightings or experiences relating to BF...Although I often encountered disbelief or ridicule, an amazing number of people had had sightings, experiences or found tracks relating to BF...Once I got access to the internet in 99 I began relating these second hand reports to this & other BF sites...Yet until now I've never posted my own sighting....It's like I needed assurance that others had seen these things, that I wasn't crazy or hallucinating...I still almost put more credence in other peoples accounts then in my own sighting....For on that night my world view was turned upside down and shaken vigorously.....
Since that night my interest in BF has waxed and waned....Well now it's waxing again....Last summer while camped in the Ocohoco mtns of central Oregon I heard about 2AM, a series of wood knocks, perfectly cadenced in groups of three....I've just read two recent books on the subject and had discussions with folks & heard even more accounts....I spent alot of time in the Oregon mountains while growing up and had a number of strange experiences that I now realize may have been BF related...
In the early 70s me and a friend were camped near Harrison Lake BC Canada when late at night we heard several screaming roars of tremendous volume coming down from the ridge top above..I've since found a tape of that very roar on another now defunct BF website...As we left the campground we asked a very old man about the roars the night before.."That'd be the Sasquatch" he said...We rolled our eyes, laughed in his face and drove off...We were young and knew everything...Too bad the old man couldn't have seen the expression on my face some 25 yrs later as I got my come uppance on that lonely hwy. in Oregon....
