TIME:   3:30 A.M.
 

LOCATION:    Between Westal and Crossville Tennessee, Cumberland County

TERRAIN:   Wooded, in the mountains
 

OBSERVED:   We went up to go squirrel hunting for three or four days and relax. The first day there, we set up camp and scoped out the area for hickery trees. We had a good evening talkng about the next days hunt. We all went to bed, no problems.The next morning,we all split up to go to our spots. That evening,when we all got back to camp, My dad told us that he went way back on an old logging road for a couple of miles it seemed when he came up on a old fence line. He kept going and came up on an old shack with an old tractor. He told us that the place had to be 80 years old. Then he got a strange feeing like someone was watching him. He said it was erie so he left and headed back to camp. We thought it was interesting and I told him I wanted to see it the next day.
We all ate dinner and went to bed.
At 3:30am, I woke up to a gun shot! The next thing I heard was my dad yelling for me to get up, something was in the camp! At first I thought he was dreaming but then I realized that he had loaded a gun and fired. I yelled from my tent and asked him what it was. He told me that he was sound asleep when he felt himself being slowly pulled out of the back of the truck. He sat straight up when he saw a hugh dark figure standing at the back of the truck. He thought it was one of us. He said, what are you doing? It didn't say anything.It just stood there. Then it walked past the back of the truck up the drivers side toward the front of the truck. As it went toward the front of the truck, it hit the drivers side mirror bending the mirror frame! He said he didn't know who or what it was so he started fumbling around for a shell for the shotgun. He found a 20gauge shell and put it in the gun. All of a sudden, he saw it's shadow walking back down the side of the campertop toward the ba!
ck of the truck. It walked past the end of the truck up to the tent. He said you better get back to bed,thinking that maybe it possibly was one of us. It walked past the front of the tent and that's when he realized it wasn't one of us.He raised the gun and fired. It jumped off to the side of the tent. That's when I woke up and heard my dad yellng for me. At first I thought it was a bear. I pulled the only slug I had from my vest and loaded my gun. I unzipped the flap and stept out. It was almost pitch black dark outside. I walked up to the lantern and tried to light it ( as fast as possible ). I finely got it lit and my dad told me the story. I told him that we should look for it but he told me no way. My dad was born and raised in Harriman Tn. and hunted the area since he was a kid. He would stay in the woods for hours on end by himself. Never afraid. That night, He was afraid. We walked up the side of the truck and found the mirror bent and on to the front of the truck. At the front of the truck was a big pile of dung. It wasn't human. There is a difference.
It had a fowl odor and was 24 inches in diameter. We walked back to the back of the truck and he told me about shooting at it when it walked past the front of the tent. We looked by the tent and found blood on the trashbags on the side of the tent. He definatly hit it. What was strange was that we know he hit it from 25 ft. away with a 20 gauge shotgun,but it didn't make a sound. I think if you shot me with a 20gauge at 25ft away, I would scream bloody murder.
That's when the quiet started. We started to hear tree limbs cracking around the perimeter of the camp.
That's when it would get deathly quiet. What I mean is that the birds would stop chirping, the tree frogs, crickets e.c.t. would all stop making noise. Then we would hear something walking around the perimeter of the camp. Every once and a while we would hear something beating the ground like a big tree or something. This went on all night long until daylight. Then we didn't hear anything. We packed up and left. Two day's early.
 
 

Activities of Witness:  Everyone was sleeping when it happened.We all had a good day hunting and a peacefull evening before bed.
Normal night.
 

Description of Creature:  Huge dark figure

Other Notes:   Only that it wasn't a bear because it walked upright the whole time and it wasn't a man because he shot it and it didn't make a sound or try to get medical attention because it shadowed our camp all night making thumping noises and scaring the hell out of us.
 

Other Other Notes:    (Other Sightings in this Area?)  Yes. I found information about Mary Green having a sighting in, I believe the same area. I wrote an e-mail askig about the location and from what I can gather, My episode happened in close proximity of hers.
