RECEIVED: From the G.C.B.R.O. Web Site Submission Form

DATE:           November 3rd and 4th, 2001

TIME:            Two Day Field Trip

LOCATION:   Overton County, Tennessee

TERRAIN:      Mountains, Wooded

OBSERVED:  Rick Tullos, Susan Shelton, Sherry Malin, her friend, Patricia, and myself went to Overton County to check out the area where we obtained the bigfoot photographs in recent years.  We investigated other areas in Clay County, Jackson County, and Fentress County, besides Overton County.  We have one report of activity.

November 3, 2001
Early Afternoon

I was showing Rick Tullos where a tree had its bark ripped off much higher than our heads that was found early this spring by Stan Sosnowski (found on an earlier expedition).  We were hiking and I happened to notice a fresh track, fresher than any I had seen for a couple of years.  We examined it, measured it, and it was about 11 1/2 inches long with a 4 inch wide heel.  Appeared to be four toed.  There was also a knuckle print beside the track and a tiny area at the heel, where the creature was evidently coming up a steep incline and had slipped, obviously putting its knuckles down to balance itself.

While the four of them had spent about 45 minutes checking into their bedding areas they have used in the past, I was alone for a while and had been very near this area and had been hearing some branches popping and cracking.  I had gotten in behind a small, bushy cedar tree and was filming this mountain side to see what presented itself.  It had gotten very quiet and I felt certain we were not alone this day.  I remember making the remark to the other researchers that I felt like there was something moving around on the mountain level above us.

After we examined the track and determining it was from a smaller creature, and more than likely a female track due to the curvature of the foot, two of us went around an easier path, and 3 went into the woods near the track to see if they could find anymore of same.  While crossing over to our meeting area on the other side of the mountain, the three ( Rick T., Sherry M. and Patricia) heard something whizzing through the trees, something very heavy sounding, like a large rock.  It thumped into the ground about 75 feet away.  I heard this and Susan did also who was hiking with me on a lower level, and we didn't know what happened.  It scared us pretty good because we were afraid that one of them had been injured by whatever had happened.  I called and didn't get an answer right away,  but then Rick hollared back and said  Yes, they were all right but he did sound a bit excited.

Upon meeting them again, Susan and I were told about a large (rock) being thrown at them, and I believe also that this is what happened.  It was large enough to be careening off the upper tree limbs pretty high up, and it hit the ground with a thump so loud, I couldn't figure out what was going on above me and Susan.

I have asked Rick Tullos to describe the occurrence and will post his description of it as soon as I receive his report.
