RECEIVED: From the G.C.B.R.O. Web Site Submission Form

DATE:              4/23/01

TIME:            8:30 OR 9:00 P.M.

LOCATION:    Byrdstown, Tennessee,   Pickett County

TERRAIN:      Wooded

OBSERVED:  On the night this incident took place I was visiting some of my friend's and star watching.  We were talking about old times and enjoying each others company.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  Then, I decided to go around the front of the house to get a better look at the stars.  Just as I turned the corner of the house something let out a hair raising scream from the woods across the street.  It darn near scared the pant's off me!  I turned and ran back around the house to where my friend's were at, yelling "Did you hear that thing?"....  They had heard it to, and were just as scared as I was!  Needless to say, that was the end of our sky watching for that night.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):  We were talking and star watching just before we heard this thing scream.

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   I did not stick around long enough to see what the creature looked like.  The scream was a very loud, deep, almost human-like roar.  It did not sound like any animal I have ever heard.  I don't know how else to explain it to you., There has been other occurrences in this area before the incident that happened to me.

OTHER NOTES:    I thought that I heard birds calling before I heard the scream, but I can't be really sure.

OTHER OTHER NOTES:  There have been other things that have happened in the same area, that may, or may not be associated with bigfoot.  That is why I would like to have Mary go back up there with me to look for more signs of bigfoot activity in that area. Now, that I am not scared half to death anymore.  We could talk to my two friend's mother and ask her what she has seen and heard.... I would really like to find out what that thing was that screamed at me that night.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA?:  There has been one other sighting a few miles from this area near the KY border.  Investigations are continuing.

RESEARCHERS NOTES:  On May 21, 2001, Michael Stuckey and myself (Mary Green) got together with this eyewitnesses (who has asked to remain confidential) and went to Byrdstown to talk with the Mother and to inspect the woods across the street from this mobile home.  The Mother is a widow and has lived there for many years.  The eyewitness is a friend of this family and had gone there to see two of the daughters of this lady that she had been lifelong friends with. One daughter was in to see her mother who lived in Arizona, and the other daughter was in who lived in Indiana.  After interviewing the eyewitness who filed this report, she related that the daughters had already been hearing the screams and that two nights before the above incident,  they had all been chased inside by the screams coming from across the road in the woodline.  The women were in the habit of sitting outside in a wooden swing and chatting in the late evening.  The screams were heard throughout that night and almost every night during their visit home with their mother.  They are deeply concerned for their mother's welfare and safety.  The mother told us that the screams had been going on for at least two months.  She also related that she had heard many thumps on her trailer late at night and figured it was some dogs doing it.
