OBSERVED:
a mysterious cry or call...heard at night...often within one or two hours
after night fall...it is very loud..echoing thru the hills and valleys...it
sounds almost human...but the frequency over months and years that it has
been heard...the time of night..inclement weather..and hostile terrain...make
for a very dedicated or insane prankster..if it is human...my gut tells
me that it is something else...i have lived here in the country all my
life...never heard this though...until i moved near the mountain...i know
all local wildlife and domestic animals..this is nothing familiar...this
is something quite strange indeed...the call..sounds like "Whhhoooooooooopp"...you
know like how country people say im gonna "whoop" ur butt..but much longer..drawn
out...and very loud. there is usually a pause of a few seconds...then
a repeat of the call...sometimes the thing...whatever it is seems to have
moved...as the call comes from a slightly different location...sometimes
a "reply" is heard..a similar "Whoooop"...coming from a totally different
location...often far away. Im stumped...but i thought you might like
to know about this.

this has been heard over several years...more often i think in the fall...but
this could also be because we are outside more in the fall enjoying the
mild nighttime weather and just hear it more then.
