REPORT RECEIVED FromThe Field Research Notes of GCBRO Member Al Hicks.

DATE:    July 18th, 19th, 20th, 2003

TIME:     Various

LOCATION:   Texas, Cherokee County

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:    Friday afternoon I arrived in Cherokee County several hours before I was to meet XXXXX, so I decided to check out the sites of some previous reports
Here is the short version of those locations.
The August of 95 sighting by two girls on a road.
I believe I located the exact spot of the encounter.  It appears that the beast was traveling downhill along the edge of a firebreak.  When the encounter took place, it looks like it was trying to cross the road to a
spot on a small ridge between two draws.  As I was looking over the area, I noted that the western side draw had some running water in it, and a doe was getting a drink.  It is my opinion that the creature was moving to a point where he could easily ambush prey at the watering site, when he was surprised by the two girls.  As they passed by him, the truck windows were down.  I believe that he got a whiff of their perfume, and either curiosity or the mating instinct kicked in and he began pursuing them.
After actually seeing the location, and reviewing the report, and my interview notes, it is my opinion that the alleged encounter did in fact take place exactly as described.

I visited another location on the XXXX River with XXXXX.  There was no sign of any other people within seven miles of our location.  As we tried to reconstruct what happened at this site, the geography and the environment lends some credibility to the report.  As we stood on the bank of the XXXX
River, there was a loud splash about mid-stream, not more than 20 feet from us.  I noted that mud came up from the bottom and floated downstream with the current.  It was obvious that a fish had not jumped, and there was no place where a turtle could have slid off of to get into the water.  Someone,
or something, had thrown a   rock.  Neither of us were armed, and actually both still in work clothes, it was getting dark, so we left as the unknown element seemed to want us to.  I will add also that the area was very still.  No sound at all.

The third stop was at another Bigfoot encounter location.
As I looked around it was obvious to me that this event had occurred.  Even though the report is dated back a couple of decades, it does not take rocket science to see that this area has probably had many more events take place than has been reported.  I will have to look into getting more information out of
this area.

After those stops, we drove down a county road where XXXXX showed me a place where kids used to go camping and were sometimes bothered by the F@#$er thing.  It was named this because the kids said it would "F!@#" with them by throwing rocks and sticks into the campsite at night.

We ended the evening by going to where I was to stay the night.  XXXXX and his girlfriend departed to spend the night at her mothers house in a nearby town.
I settled in for the night, and suffered through the night without air conditioning.  The AC in the trailer had failed.

Shortly before daylight, I got up and began walking trails to find crossing points.  A little after 7 AM, I located two very faint tracks at the edge of a small clearing.  Later in the morning, a few yards off the trail, there were some limbs snapping, and for about 45 minutes, something in the brush would move when I walked.  When I stopped, it would stop.  I would take a few steps, it would move, I would stop, it would stop.  As I said, this went on for about 45 minutes.  I never saw anything, or smelled anything.
Eventually it departed in a direct line away from me, putting a lot of heavy brush and forest between me and it.

Throughout the course of the day, I looked at several locations around deer feeders, found a lot of sign of deer and hogs.
At the final spot of the day, I found some 14 inch tracks in an area directly between a feeder and a
creek botttom.  Also found some tree breaks, that could not be explained away, (especially as they all pointed directly at the feeder)  I also noted the presence of a single track that appeared to be of a young'un.  It was about 5 inches long and about an inch and a half wide at the heel.  This track was superimposed upon the edge of one of the bigger tracks.  It looks like the big one had been carrying the little one and set it down for a moment, then picked it back up.  I found no other small tracks.  This was in an area at least a mile from the nearest road, in a snake infested, briar, bramble,  and bug infested, forested hillside close to a creek.

It was getting dark, so we returned to camp.  The AC had been replaced that day, so I departed to go to town to get gas for the generator.  This was at 9:30 PM.  As I left the location, before I got to the paved road, I crested a rise and not more than a hundred feet in front of me, crossing the road, was a bipedal, hair covered creature, with long arms taking the last two strides to cross the road and disappear into the woods.  This was an area where the trees overlap the roadway and it is very dark.  I could not see
where it went, it virtually disappeared.

The next morning, the 20th of July, 2003.  I returned to where I had seen the critter to look for sign.  I only found one old track, at the shoulder of the road, that was 14 inches long, 4 1/2 inches wide at the heel and 3 1/2 inches deep.  In hard soled combat boots, I was leaving no trace.  I figure the track was probably weeks old, and made after a rainstorm.  The area is quite dry now.  About that time I began hearing a mixture of sounds coming from the southwest of my location.  There were agitated cattle,
barking dogs and some other sounds I could not readily identify.  Some of the sounds were:
"Whoop! Whoop!"
"Hoo! Hoo!"
And a growling bark snap sound.

I located the spot where I think the monster had come from and will attach the photo.  I turned and took a picture of where it went to, and will send that as well.  Now the second photo doesn't show it, but it was taken in the same spot from just a few feet to the left of where photo entrance was taken.  The photo's will show a 'doorway' into the forest.  This accounts for why the beast disappeared so quickly.  If you stand a little off to either side, you cannot see this 'door'.

In the wake of so much success on this trip, I found myself under equipped, with virtually no back-up.  My next expedition will be better planned and equipped.  I am attaching photos, of some of the highlights.

Activities of Witness:   Doing field research on Bigfoot related events in and around Cherokee County.

Description of Creature:  My description of the creature is 6 to 7 feet tall.  Walking on two legs. Appeared to be covered in black or dark brown hair.  I only saw it for the time it took it to take two strides and it was walking with a purpose.  It probably had a weight of around 250 lbs or so.

Other Notes:    As an added note, I spoke with XXXXX last night briefly because there was one other event that happened around noon on Saturday, that didn't really register until after I sent in the initial report.
While we were down at the deer stand, I was idling away while XXXXX painted on his stand.  We were
waiting for his girlfriend to come back from town with some lunch.  We heard a woman holler from the direction of the camp, but couldn't make out what she was yelling.  So we got on the 4 wheeler and ran up there.
Elapsed time was about 5 to 6 minutes from second holler to us arriving at the camp.
No one was there.  There was a note from XXXXX's sister that she had been there at 11:30 and would be back later.  About half an hour later, she and her sister arrived, mentioned that they had left the note.  I said, yeah we found it, when we came up after we heard you hollering.
The girls looked at each other and said, "We didn't holler."
Further comments and reflection point out, that even my "parade ground" voice will not carry down to the stand.  There are no houses, or any other human activity, near enough for a human voice to have come from.  So it appears, for the moment, without any further explanation, that we may have had a possible mid-day vocalization.
XXXXX's girlfriend had not been there either, and did not return until about 2 PM.  I am beginning to wonder what other activity there might have been, that I missed.

Additional Notes or Comments N/A

Photo of an old track, at the shoulder of the road, that was 14 inches long,
4 1/2 inches wide at the heel and 3 1/2 inches deep.

This photo shows a 'doorway' into the forest.  This accounts for why the beast
disappeared so quickly.  If you stand a little off to either side, you cannot see this 'door'.

Here is another angle of the doorway into the forest, that shows what I was talking about,
if you stand a little off to either side, you cannot see this 'door' as is easily visible in the photo
above this one.

This is the trail the creature came down when it came to
the road and crossed in front of my vehicle.

This is a photo of a tree break that I found while investigating in the area.
It is important to note that there was no evidence of any storm or mechanical activity
in this area to create the break.  I am not making any definite conclusions on this photo, other
than to say that it is an interesting photo, especially with the circumstances involved in the area.
