DATE:      December 1977

TIME:        7:30 A.M.

LOCATION:  Jasper County, Texas
Between the cities of Vidor and Evadale

TERRAIN:      Wooded

OBSERVED:   I believe there are a lot more occurrences of bigfoot activity in the East Texas area that people here do not report.  The forest here is very dense.  I believe I've had other things happen while hunting this area that could have been bigfoot activity, but unles I were to see it, I would just shrug it off.

I was about fifteen at the time, had arrived at the deer camp late that morning.  I grabbed the only gun left and went to the pipeline where I knew the morning drive was being made.  We used hunting dogs back then to push the deer towards the hunters waiting in a line in an open area.

So as not to pass any other hunters, I took up a position close to where the pipeline intersects a dirt road.  I sat at the edge of the woods on a large stump, facing the open pipeline.  There was a very large long leaf pine about 30 feet behind me.  I thought this was odd because most of the large trees had been cut by the lumber or paper companies.

After about 15 minutes of sitting, I detected movement near the large pine.  I turned and stared at the tree and could see something peeking from behind it.  It would peek from around the tree then pull its head back like a child playing peek-a-boo.  This went on for several minutes.  I was frightened because the head that was peaking at me was very high up the tree.  I couldn't make out any facial features because the hair was extremely long from the head, more or less covering the face.  After a while, the creature just stepped out from behind the tree, glanced a second, turned and walked away.

When it stepped out, I did raise the gun at it, but didn't fire because it turned its back and walked away into the woods.  I immediately got out of there.  Two weeks later I was walking an old logging road near the same area when this creature stepped out about 50 yards in front of me.  It stared for a second, then walked off into the woods.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):   Deer Hunting

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   Large, hairy, ape-like creature,  Approximately 10 feet tall, slender, but muscular, very dark brown, hair covering its body.   Creature seemed to be very curious about me.  Was almost playful like.

OTHER NOTES:  I find it so hard to believe there are so few reports from the Big Thicket area of Texas.  This would be an excellent area for such a creature to survive and remain hidden.

Eerily quiet that morning.
