DATE:    November 19, 2011

TIME:     1700 hr.

LOCATION:   Newton County, Texas

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:    1st encounter November 18th 2011 2000hrs..I was setting at my camp around a fire.. I heard a woop woop woop sound ..very high pitched. I have been coming to these woods since I was 5 yr. old, I am 42 now, and I have NEVER heard this before.. I started to go toward where I heard the sound, about 200 yards away..at this time I heard a distant knocking on wood like someone was hitting a tree with a wooden bat the woop woop sound stopped.. I didn't hear it again until the next day on November 19th 2011 1700 hr.. I had parked my truck at the entrance to my camp road and walked in. As I got closer to the creek crossing,, I heard the woop woop woop again this time very close across a small clearing with about 6 foot tall pine trees.. I stopped and got behind a tree at the edge of the road..I had a deer grunt call with me.. I grunted it a couple of times. I heard something coming through the woods towards me.. I raised my rifle not knowing what was coming.. keep in mind there are other animals in this area that can kill you.. the sound of trees moving and underbrush breaking was getting closer. it stopped moving, I grunted my call again the "whatever" it was started moving again then I heard the wood knocking again..whatever it was took off toward the sound very fast.. There are lots of swamps in this area but with the drought the swamp is dry the only place for water is at the river of by my camp there is a natural spring fed creek that has never been dry the area is very thick underbrush and marsh in areas. Since the rains have returned and the swamp back wet I have not heard the sounds lately.

Additional Info:    I am retired from the US Army I was a Military Policeman for 21 years. I am trained to observe and report. I have never heard the things that I heard on these days. I have always felt safe at my camp..But, but in the last few weeks I have had the feeling that someone or something was watching me. I have served with the Army Special Forces, I completed Ranger school, Army parachute school, Air Assault school. I have served in Panama, Haiti, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan and South America. I am no whimp and do not frighten easy..but the sound that I heard made the hair on my neck stand up.

Activities of Witness:    Walking though the woods to my deer stand.

Description of Creature:  I did not see it only heard.

Other Notes:    N/A

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:    I have heard stories from some of the old timers but that was many years ago. I did speak to 2 hunters in the area that also heard the woop woop sound an felt as if they were being watched. They were camped at the edge of the swamp on the river side.

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments N/A
