REPORT RECEIVED: From the GCBRO Online Report Submission Form

DATE:  JUNE 7, 2000

TIME:  3:00 A.M.

LOCATION:     PANOLA COUNTY, TEXAS, 600 METERS SW OF SOUTH END OF SPILLWAY, LAKE MURVALL, NEAR GARY TX

TERRAIN:   WOODED

OBSERVED:  : I was on a camping trip with local youth and awakened at
3:00 am, April 7, 2000.  I walked out to the picnic table,
lit a cigarette, and looked at my watch, determining whether to
stay up or go back to bed.

I heard a loud scream to the northwest, it sounded like it was
on the other side of the lake, probably over a mile distant.
The scream repeated once.  Immediately after the 2nd scream, the
forest "lit up" with coyote and owl howls.  I stood there
smoking my cigarette while the forest went weird, then quieted
down.  I checked on the boys and went to back to my cot.

I didn't mention it to the boys for fear of frightening them.

On the morning of April 8, 2000, I had slept soundly through the
night. Our camp had been plundered by raccoons.  I was awakened
shortly after daylight by the boys.  While preparing for
breakfast, one of the youth, a particularly level-headed kid,
asked if anyone had heard that "weird sound" last nite.  The
other boys asked him about it, and he described it as a
"witches howl".  I asked him if he wasn't maybe mistaken, that
he had heard the racoons.  He told me, "Naw, Mr. D, the raccoons
woke me up.  They were in the trash.  This was loud, and sounded
like it came from across the lake."

I asked him if it was coyotes, and he guffawed, telling me that
he knows what coyotes sound like.  The other boys continued to
quiz him and he couldn't describe the sound, only that he had
never heard an animal like that before.

Description of Creature:  Unknown animal scream only

Activities of Witness:   Camping

Other Notes:  Upon returning home, I checked the bigfoot.wav, downloaded from
the BFRO site.  What I heard in the forest was virtually
identical to the wav file.

Other Other Notes:  While I enjoy an occasional drink, I am stone-sober when camping
with the boys.
