Bigfoot Sightings

OBSERVED: This is a second hand story.
The gentleman who experienced this encounter still has never been able to talk much about it. It occurred 20 years ago at a spot call "dry creek" where he and his family would go fish and cook out on occasion. It was not far from their home and he was just passing time there, gathering his thoughts. He had heard what seemed like heavier than normal footfalls behind him and never thought to turn around until after about 5 minutes later when he stopped hearing them. As he turned to look all he saw were two extremely large and hairy stumps that he knew didn't belong there just 5 feet away. He then slowly looked directly up and with the sun directly behind its head was a fierce looking gorilla looking monster staring him down. He said that he went into a scare shock that, to this day, still makes the back of his hair rise. He took off and ran just as fast and hard as he could just knowing he would get chased down and caught by this thing. He never looked back and made it back to his house and curled up in his bedroom in a fetal position for 6 hours before his mother found him, white-pale, shaking and eyes red from crying.
He was never the same. Never went back to "dry creek". His parents took him to what we Hispanics call a "Curandero" who are people, usually of catholic religion, a form of Exorcists to try and get him sane again. He eventually did, somewhat.

Additional Things: He took only a total of a 5 second look at it but told me when asked about how tall this thing was he said, "I don't know, maybe ten feet." He did say that the other reason he finally turned around was because of a putrid smell that suddenly was present.

Activities of Witness: He was just passing the time, being the young lad of 9 years. This particular spot wasn't more than a quarter mile from home.

Description of Creature: The head was small compared to the rest of the body, but looked like a gorilla. Hair was jet black, both legs looked to be the size of 10 inch tree trunks. Didn't look at the feet, but when he made his quick scan upward to the face he remembered the torso being as wide as the front door of his home. The look on its face was fierce, as if it was going to devour him that instant. He, to this day, cannot wipe that picture from his mind.

Other Notes: The unique thing about this encounter that may separate this from all others in the history of Bigfoot sightings is that it would end up being the south most ever in North America. I realize there have been some sightings in Florida Keys, but I don't know how far south into the Keys. The next southern sightings or possible one were in Edna, Tx. about 100 miles to the north.

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes: Yes, his father also experienced these putrid odors but contributed them to wild pigs that were always in the area.
