DATE:    August 15, 1994

TIME:     2:30 am

LOCATION:   Raleigh County, West Virginia

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:    I was 14 years old when me and a friend had sneaked out of his house to go and meet 2 girls. We actually walked around 6 miles. We were walking down the road and we came to a very dark stretch of road and the only way we could even see was from the moon light. We got about half way through the stretch of woods and I noticed something behind a tree. We thought it was a person hiding behind the tree. It was around 300 feet away. We approached watching closely. We got as close as 100 ft. and this figure half exposed itself from behind the tree. I stopped dead in my tracks because I could tell it was an animal from its enormous size. My friend not convinced took around 10 more steps towards the creature and it took a step out from behind the tree. It was absolute terror as we saw the creature. We could see fur all over its body, white reflection from moon light off its eyes. The thing that stuck in my mind all these years was its fingers. I could see it fingers as it came forward the second time. They were human like but much longer. They were at least 3 times as long. This creature was at least 7 feet tall while it was hunched over. When my friend took the step towards the creature it looked like it was going to pounce on him. It now reminds me of a cat getting ready to pounce on something. I have never ran so fast in all my life. We were so scared we never looked back to see if it was chasing us.

Activities of Witness:   Walking down a dark moonlit road

Description of Creature:  Creature stood around 7 feet hunched over, Hairy Body, and very long human like fingers. This creature had to be at least 8-9 feet tall if it were standing straight up.

Other Notes:    After we got around 1/2 mile away it started raining very heavy. I think it had something to do with the sighting because Humans very rarely go out into the woods or walking when it is raining. That would give the animal cover and would hardly ever be sighted.

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:    There has been no other sightings in this area that I know of. As you look at WV there is more woods and mountains than neighbor hoods which would make it very easy to go undetected for so long.

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments I have never told anyone of my encounter except my wife until now for fear of being criticized by others. I know what I saw and I know this was an encounter I've never experienced before or after.

The one thing I do know is the idiot skeptics in the world will be labeled as fools once again one day. There are many animals that are still out there we don't know about. Like Panda Bears that was discovered in the 60s. Just like skeptics of Big Foot, there were skeptics of the Panda Bear. As population grows these rare animals will be pushed out into the sight of people more often than ever.
